If you haven’t seen the hi-def projectors yet, you’ve got to try this out. This projects an amazing 11-foot wide (that’s 12.6′ diagonal) image on my wall that does wonders for my movies.

It performs very well with both dvd and blu-ray. I haven’t tried it with a computer or tv signal yet, but i’m sure they look great, too. Optoma has a reputation for “fruity” colors, reliable lamps, and wonderful images. Check out these reviews online. It got a “hot product” from projector reviews and a “highly rated” from projector central. There’s a reason for that. Optoma makes some of the best projectors around.

There should be almost 1200 hours left on the lamp. It’s only been used in normal mode (not “bright”), which gives it a total lamp life of 3000 hours. Remember, that’s an estimate, too. I’ve heard of plenty of people who have exceeded that considerably.

But even with 1200 hours, consider that i watch 2 movies a week. If i keep that up, the lamp will last me 6 more years. You might watch more than me, but at this price, it doesn’t make sense not to enjoy those 1200 hours.

I do have to tell you that the remote has a single broken button. The right arrow is torn clean off.

This doesn’t terribly affect projector usage. Once you have it set up the way you like, you normally just turn it on and off, maybe change aspect ratio or input. You can still do all that with buttons that are still available. If you are navigating the menus, then you just have to push left instead of right and let it cycle from leftmost to rightmost. Or, if you’re using the projector’s buttons, you have nothing to worry about. You might be thinking about a 3lcd projector, too. While i don’t want to discourage you from that, i have to tell you my impressions. The dlp projectors i’ve seen (both optomas) are much smaller than the lcd projectors i’ve seen.

That would make them look much more attractive in a room mounted to the ceiling or sitting on the coffee table. One lcd projector i’ve seen had a problem with convergence–since there are 3 light paths (one each for red, green, and blue), they have to be merged back into one single image. If there’s any misalignment among the 3 colors, you get a picture where you can see red or blue above or below a dark line, and the other color on the opposite side of the line. That bothers me a lot. If you get an lcd projector and run into that problem, you’ll have to take it to a repair shop to get it fixed.

I also have a few video cables that i can send you one of if you need one. And i really hope you like this projector as much as i do.
